It’s game on. The President signed into law the largest tax bill in American history on July 4, 2025. How will the immediately effective new law affect you and your clients?

This major new tax legislation compels our attention in a way unlike any other in the past eight years. To keep taxes at their lowest possible level both now and through time, the tax planner, tax preparer and taxpayer will be challenged to either take action in 2025 or wait until 2026. Newly focused posturing will be greatly rewarded. Without it, a taxpayer may be punished.

The newly passed legislation must be thoughtfully considered:

§199A Qualified Business Income Deduction (QBID) – Its loosening and tweaking

  1. State and Local Tax (SALT) Deductions – More lucrative for some at the expense of others
  2. Green Energy Tax Provision Cuts – How changes send 2025 into a transition year tailspin
  3. Campaign Promise Potpourri – Do “no tax on tips”, “no tax on overtime” and “lower taxes on seniors” ring a bell?
  4. Income tax rates for 2025, 2026 and beyond – How timing, timing, timing and timing are affected
  5. Cost recovery heaven – How bonus depreciation, §179, R&D expenses and manufacturing capital spending meet their new extremely enhanced reality – But, beware transition year bite back
  6. Amended return mania – How the new legislation gives the choice, or not, to put time sensitive amended returns in play
  7. How individual taxation, business taxation, fringe benefits taxation, charitable contribution deductibility, tax exempt organizations taxation and IRS practice and procedure change more than one might expect

Give us three hours. We’ll knock the new tax legislation down for you. Both 2025 and 2026 transitional year planning and the need for permanent posturing are very much in play.
