WEBINAR: Ethics for Tax Practitioners: Core Principles & Circular 230 Compliance
2 Hour Federal Ethics; IRS:
Ethical conduct is the foundation of effective tax practice. Circular 230 governs practice before the IRS by establishing mandatory standards for attorneys, CPAs, and enrolled agents who represent taxpayers. It outlines rules of competency, diligence, and integrity, and provides procedures for disciplinary actions in cases of noncompliance.
This course offers a foundational overview of the ethical principles that guide tax professionals. Participants will explore key sections of Circular 230, including authority to practice, duties and restrictions, sanctions, and return preparer penalties. The session also highlights resources available through the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), including tools for verifying practitioner status and accessing official guidance. Whether you're advising clients or preparing returns, this course reinforces the ethical standards that protect both taxpayers and practitioners.
