WEBINAR: Reporting Charitable Bequests on Form 706 and Form 1041: Estate & Fiduciary Tax Compliance
2 Hour Federal Tax; IRS:
Charitable giving is a cornerstone of many estate plans, but accurate reporting of post-death transfers requires careful attention to both estate and fiduciary tax rules. Whether the bequest is a fixed dollar amount, a specific asset, or a percentage of the residuary, practitioners must understand how to properly report the charitable deduction on Form 706 and Form 1041.
This intermediate-level course explores the technical and practical aspects of reporting charitable bequests on the Estate Tax Return (Form 706) and the Fiduciary Income Tax Return (Form 1041). Participants will learn how to interpret governing documents, distinguish between specific and residuary transfers, and apply the correct deduction calculations—including the circular computation required for percentage bequests. The course also emphasizes the importance of drafting strategies that maximize charitable deductions and minimize compliance risk.
